Afternoon folks. Today I’m delighted to bring you a review of As The Stars Fall by Steve N Lee., An emotional, heart wrenching, heart warming read about the unbreakable bond of a dog and his girl….
book blurb & info
An injured young dog cowers in a moldy old box. He’s bleeding, starving, crippled by grief. The last thing he needs is a nine-year-old girl sticking her nose in. He struggles to run, but he’s so weak he crashes to the ground.
Abducted, the dog finds himself in the girl’s home. His kidnapper appears caring, yet everyone knows people should be feared, not trusted. And as if that isn’t baffling enough, she whimpers in the dead of night, just like he does.
Empathizing with each other’s suffering, the dog and the girl quickly become inseparable. They bask in endless days overflowing with love and laughter. As their struggles fade into distant memories, the future they deserve seems within their grasp. They reach for it…
But life has one last cruel trick to play.

What a beautiful, amazing and emotional read. I’ve never read a book that made me cry so much!!
Dog has a hard life living on the streets and is on the verge of giving up when he is found by a little girl who takes him home. While he tries to figure out why they have kidnapped him, he learns that not all humans are bad…..
Mia has had her own problems and together they support each other and build an unbreakable bond. But just as things seem to be working out well, everything changes…..
I don’t want to give anything away about this story so will say no more on the plot, other than get yourself a box of tissues! If you’re an animal lover this will warm you and break you all at the same time. And if you’ve never experienced the bond you can build with a dog, then this will explain it to you perfectly.
The way the story is told is fantastic, and had me laughing so many times. It certainly got me wondering what my Chewie is thinking!! Only someone who has had a dog as a best friend would be able to write a story so true. I felt everything in this and having just finished, feel drained from my emotional rollercoaster!
It’s beautifully written and will stay with me for a long long time. Despite the fact that I cried a lot (made worst by Chewie constantly licking my tears away!) this is a story that you won’t want to miss. You have to read this – especially if you love dogs. The characters are believable – the good and the bad (and the bad will make you angry!); and the settings are described wonderfully.
I was lost in this story from the very beginning with my heart full of with hope, despair, love, joy and sadness. Honestly, if you want a read that will move you so completely, give you a beautiful story, characters you will love and stay in your heart for a long long time, then you need to check this out. Highly recommended by me (but just to reiterate…..you WILL need tissues!)
Massive thanks to Steve for asking me to review the book and gifting me with a copy. All views and opinions are my own.
