I’m really excited to be a stop on day two of the blog tour for Christmas at Black Cherry Retreat!

the blurb…

What if you had nowhere to call home for Christmas?
When Fee Winter books a winter break at the remote Black Cherry Retreat in the small town of Pine Ridge, Tennessee, it’s with the idea that the peace and quiet will help her recuperate from her hectic life as a photographer.

But what she didn’t bank on was meeting Tom Chambers and his huge, interfering yet lovable family. With them, could Fee finally experience the warmth and support that’s been missing from her own life – and maybe even find a place to call home in time for Christmas?

MY review

I really enjoyed this book, my first by Angela Britnell!  Firstly, I want to visit Black Cherry Retreat, it just seems like such a lovely place to go and recuperate – remote, no internet or phone signal…..heaven!

I warmed to Tom immediately but it took me a bit longer to like Fee – I found her very standoffish to start with but I would imagine her job as a war zone photographer would have some impact! I loved following the story though and learning about Tom and Fee’s lives; I loved Tom’s family and the fact that there was lots of food involved – I’d be loving life!

Britnell covers quite a bit of crime in the story, but as a crime lover I really enjoyed this part too; as well as watching the romantic relationship flourish between Tom and Fee.

The only thing I would say is that Christmas didn’t come until nearer the end of the book; we go through Halloween and Thanksgiving and then….finally it’s Christmas!  As a huge Christmas lover, I kind of wish it had been more Christmassy from the beginning but this didn’t detract from the story – just my preference!

There were times throughout that made me stop and think, really feeling for the characters and what they’d been through, trying not to shed a tear!  Overall this is a heartwarming story, proving that second chances do happen.
