Today I’m on the blog tour for The Fifty 5pm Fictions Collection by Morgen Bailey….

the blurb

This collection comprises five volumes of fifty stories written from a variety of prompts and published on Morgen’s blog:, where you can still read the list of prompts – a story a day for nearly a year.

In this book there are stories of revenge, luck and misfortune, sharp edges, sticky red hands, no faded circle of skin, family heirlooms, Chelsea buns, and alien hums.

We meet a generous aunt, men in uniform, a fan of Hawaiian shirts, untidy teenagers, characters looking to improve themselves, a young girl with wings, a modern-day Cleopatra, and a curious fortune teller.

These stories all go to show what can be done with a prompt, a few hours, and a colourful imagination.

my review

This is a lovely collection of short stories from a variety of prompts on Morgen’s blog.  There are five volumes of fifty different tales, so 250 stories in total.

There are a wide range of different stories told from different points of view.  Some are conversations, some are written as if they are about you and others are in normal story format.  There is definitely something in this for everyone!  The length of the stories range…for example one is a very long sentence!;  others are a few pages long.

Each story is written well and if you’re short of time but love reading, gives you that opportunity.  You could fit a few little tales in during your lunch, or just read a couple of an evening.  This is the massive benefit of short stories – it gives everyone the chance to read….even for those with the smallest of available time.

I’m one that does like to get really stuck in to a story so short stories aren’t something I usually indulge in but I did really enjoy reading these.

Overall a great little collection with something for everyone! Most definitely worth checking out if you love short stories or struggle for reading time!
