Brilliant, real and funny!
“Alice is used to taking photographs for a living – not having intimate pictures of herself posted for all the world to see, thanks to a disgruntled ex-boyfriend. Now her clients are cancelling appointments, and she’s almost out of cash. What else could go wrong? Oh yeah, her room mate has scarpered leaving Alice completely out of luck.
Enter Tom ‘man whore’ Maddens. Having disappointed his father one too many, he moves to Brighton, ready for a new start. And where better to begin it than in Alice’s newly-vacant spare room? And if he tries to seduce her at the same time? Well he’s just living up to his reputation isn’t he?
But then he didn’t bank on actually falling for her. Will his reputation as a commitment phone put a stop to any sparks between the pair? Or can Alice put aside her trust issues and take a leap of faith with Tom?”
I really enjoyed this book and now want to find the others to read! I hadn’t heard of Laura before and was approached by her to ask if I’d like to read and review her book (thank you!); so of course I said yes…..and I’m so glad I did! I can’t wait to read more of her books.
Bagging Alice is number 3 in the Babes of Brighton series but you can definitely read it as a stand alone. There is quite a lot of swearing and some rather detailed sexual descriptions (which had me blushing – and I’m in no way a prude!) so be prepared! I was gobsmacked at the first couple of pages and after reading it to my husband, also had him laughing!
The story is told from the view points of Alice and Tom and this adds value to the story as you can see what each of them are thinking as their relationship changes. To start with, I think it’s fair to say Alice is not a fan of Tom but she needs a house mate so gives in. He then rocks up with a puppy (and who can turn an adorable little puppy away….especially when it’s called Pickles!) who helps to build more of a friendship…..with rows along the way! From this point on I was gripped because I just wanted to know whether they were going to get together, or whether Tom in typical ‘man whore’ style was going to mess up!!! I’m not giving anything away but I loved seeing their relationship changing over time.
I also really liked the other characters, people I’d love to go out drinking with! They all sounded so fun!!
I really enjoyed the way Laura has written this, it’s really real and exactly how I expect people to talk! The characters are believable (I’ve met a few Tom’s in my time!) and the more you learn about them the more your fall in love with them (or dislike them!).
If you want to read something that will make you smile and laugh (with a few emotional bits!) then you need to check this out! I’ll definitely be checking out Laura’s other books in the future (once my TBR list is a bit smaller!) so keep an eye out for more reviews! You can find Bagging Alice on Amazon.
If you’ve read this or any of Laura’s other books I would love to chat with you to see what you thought.
Thanks again Laura, and I look forward to reading more from you in the future!
Note: Laura provided me with this book in return for an honest review. All views are my own.
