A lovely, heartwarming short festive story!
London-born Bella has spent the past four years working hard in New York City, so she can’t wait to fly home to spend a peaceful Christmas with her family. That is, until she finds out that her first (correction: only!) love has been invited for Christmas dinner.
As we all know I love a Christmas story so when Samantha Rose contacted me to ask if I’d like to review one of her books, of course this is the one I picked and I’m so glad I did!
It’s a short and quick read; fantastic if you don’t have a lot of time for reading but still want to submerge yourself in someone else’s fictional life.
The story begins with Bella in New York on 22nd December and ends with her back there on New Years Eve, but how things have changed!
Bella has lived in New York for the last 4 years and hasn’t been home for Christmas in London with her family since then but since having a new job she gets some time off and is so excited. Her and her family love Christmas and it’s so lovely to experience how excited they all are to get together and the effort that her family have put in.
She’s really excited until she finds out that her ex will be coming round for Christmas dinner with her family and she hasn’t spoken to him since they broke up before she left for New York! Will they still get on? Will it be awkward? Will any old feelings reappear?
I loved the story, following Bella spending time with her family, sister and getting to re-meet her ex after so long and I absolutely loved the ending! I won’t spoil it but this is a must-read…..short and wonderful! I know it’s the New Year now but only just…..get one last quick Christmas read in before the festive feeling has completely disappeared for another year!
Thanks to the author for letting me read her book in return for an honest review, and also for providing a paperback copy – it was lovely to actually hold a book again! All views are my own. I am not affiliated with any links in the post.
