Good morning my lovelies. In these unsettling and uncertain times I’m grateful that I have books to keep me distracted – what are you doing to manage any anxiety at the moment? One of the fantastic books that’s been keeping me entertained is Dead Wrong by Noelle Holten, Book 2 in the DC Maggie Jamieson series. This is another fabulous book by our very own lovely Noelle!
The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…
DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.
Three missing women running out of time…
They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life.
The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…
But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.
Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.
Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…
Since reading the first book in the DC Maggie Jamieson series (Dead Inside) I couldn’t wait to read book 2, and I was not disappointed.
It’s great to be back with DC Maggie Jamieson as she’s called back from her secondment at the DAHU to her job in the Major and Organised Crime Department. Body parts have been found, belonging to a woman who was already believed to be dead after serial killer Bill Raven confessed. He’s behind bars so can’t have committed this murder, and he’s now appealing his sentence.
Maggie is sucked in to the investigation, determined to prove that Raven is indeed responsible in some way for these murders. But there are still others missing and they need to find them before it’s too late. Will Maggie be able to save these women and find the person who is killing these women? And is Raven really a part of it or is she guilty of convicting an innocent man?
I thoroughly enjoyed this and was sucked into the investigation along with Maggie. The story is well paced, making you want to keep reading to find out what happens next. I was completely behind Maggie but at times you do start wondering if she’s just a little obsessed and whether she’s actually following the right path or not……
It was great to be back with some of the other characters from the first book, especially Dr Kate Moloney. I loved her in Dead Inside and she’s just as fantastic in this; we also check in with Lucy, Mark and Sarah. Bill Raven is a fantastic, twisted and dark character that you will love to hate. His smugness and arrogance were so frustrating, and you can see exactly why he effects Maggie the way he does!
As well as the main story, there are some other (creepy!) bits going on that will also have you on the edge of your seat…..and the ending……OMG! I did not expect that and seriously need Book 3 now!!
This is another gripping, well written, well paced enjoyable novel by Noelle – definitely one that you won’t want to put down. If you’re a fan of crime/serial killers/thriller then you won’t be disappointed with this. Now go buy a copy!
