I’m back!!  Assignments are now completed (for this term) and I now have a couple of weeks off so expect lots of reviews – I’m playing catch up!  First up, is a review of the final book in the Celestial Creatures series, Halo by Olga Gibbs.  I have been waiting to see what happens for so long……..

about halo

The stage is set. The armies are in their positions.
However, what Ariel had gathered hardly can be called an “army”, maybe a mob at a push, but it’s all she has. This handful of the fallen is her only chance for survival in the final battle.

The pages of the final book of the “Celestial Creatures” are full of betrayal, power struggle, the final battle, heartache and fulfilling one’s destiny: becoming the feared archangel, the sole ruler of Heaven.

my thoughts

Wow.  What an ending.  I started reading this series when I first started my book blogging journey so it feels bittersweet that its come to an end.  But I’m glad I got to follow Ariel on her full journey and find out what happens in the end.  I’m not going to give too much away (obviously!) BUT what I will say is the battle we’ve all been waiting for is on its way.  Ariel has something of an army, but she needs to take on Baza once and for all……but how will it all end?

The final instalment doesn’t disappoint. The action will keep you on your toes, as will the decisions Ariel has to make.  You’ll finally find out what happens with the love triangle (eek!) and will be faced with betrayal and heartache.  There were some major shocks in this – things I absolutely wasn’t expecting, and there are moments that will definitely bring out your emotions  (I nearly cried a few times!).  Overall, be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster!

I say it about every book of Olga’s and I’ll say it again.  Her descriptions are fantastic, making it so easy to play everything out in your head.  There are gruesome creatures, beautiful angels, dark tunnels, barren wastelands and all sorts for you to imagine.

Ariel has fully developed and come in to herself.  She’s moved from the sulky teenager that she once was to a powerful leader who surprises everyone.  She can be a bit ruthless and I was definitely shocked by some of her actions!

So, now I’ve finished the series I can honestly say if you’re looking for a new YA fantasy series, based around angels, earth, heaven, hell and gruesome creatures, and you’re looking for an action packed series that will keep you engaged; with fantastic characters you can fall in love with and others your love to hate, then you should check this out!  Highly recommended by me.
