Sadly I missed posting this yesterday – good old technology caused a blip with my blog that didn’t post this on time for me and I was so busy I didn’t have a chance to check (sorry David).  So here it is, an interview with David Cooper……

Tell us a bit about yourself:

David J Cooper is a British author. He was born in Darlaston, West Midlands, to a working class family. After leaving school he had jobs ranging from engineering to teaching. He got involved in local politics and became a local councillor in 1980.

His novels incorporate elements of the paranormal, horror, suspense, and mystery.

He is featured in the Best Poems and Poets of 2012 with his first and only poem God’s Garden.

He currently lives in a small town in Mexico with his three dogs, Chula, Sooty, and Benji.

What inspired you to start writing?

A story that a friend told me.

How many books have you written and published?


How do you choose the names of your characters?

I base them on people I know, or have known.

Which of your characters would you want to be stranded on an island with, and why?

I think Sally Sutton because she’d never be boring.

Who is your favourite author and which of their books is your favourite, and why?

I don’t have a favourite author.

What is the first thing you can remember writing?

A love letter.

What other jobs have you done other than being an author?

Engineering, sales person, manager, care officer, teacher.

If you could get in a time machine and had one chance to travel, where would you go? (Backwards or forwards!)

England in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

If you could have one conversation with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

My parents to tell them how much I love and miss them.

What are your favourite things to do?

I like to write and also travel and meet new people.

What is the strangest thing that has ever happened to you?

Seeing a ghost.

If you could give your younger writing self any advice what would it be?

You should have started earlier!!

Name one book you think everyone should read?!

Wuthering Heights.

And finally, tell us about your most recent book and where we can find it?
