Also today I’m super excited to be on the blog tour of No Love Lost by Robert Crouch, Book 6 in the fantastic Kent Fisher mystery series.  I was so excited to read this and was absolutely blown away…….

book blurb & info

How can a simple job interview end in complete carnage?

When Mandy Paige seeks Kent Fisher’s help to find the mother who abandoned her as a baby, he has no idea of the mayhem his investigation will unleash. With only a photograph of a woman he once knew, he discovers she left her office one Friday afternoon twenty years ago and never returned.

Did Helen Cassidy escape an abusive husband or was she abducted and murdered?

People connected to Helen begin to die in mysterious circumstances. An old foe returns, leaving cryptic messages on the windscreen of Kent’s car. He seems to know Kent’s every move, hounding and taunting the sleuth, attacking those who can help him solve the mystery.

When the main suspect dies, Kent’s investigation lies in tatters – until he realises he’s not the one pursuing the killer. The killer’s pursuing him.

my thoughts

Wow wow wow!! This absolutely blew me away from page one right through to the very end.  As any regular readers of my blog will know I absolutely adore Kent Fisher and the series and was so excited to read book 6.  I’ve missed Kent and couldn’t wait to see what escapades he’d get up to this time.  And Crouch didn’t disappoint…….It’s like being back with an old friend.

This book, for me, delivered the most shocks of all of them.  Things happen in this that I was not expecting at all.  Even if you haven’t read the previous books, they will still blow you away.  Crouch gives us, yet again, a fabulous complex and tangled investigation for Kent to get wrapped up in, with the help from his loyal friends.  I loved checking in with some of my favourite characters, including Columbo the dog of course!

The plot is absolutely fantastic! No Love Lost is less about Kent’s job (although we do still get to see what’s happening; and there are changes in store…..) and more about the investigation which will keep you on your toes.  There are twists and turns that you won’t be able to guess, visits from old foes and fabulous new characters for you to figure out.

Each time I read a new Kent Fisher mystery I think it’s my favourite, and then the next one trumps it!  I love the series so much, adore Kent (the complex character that he is) and the other characters, love the mystery and intrigue and enjoy the writing style so much.  Yet again, the setting is fantastic and if you know Sussex you will love this.  And even if you don’t, you will love the beautiful scenery of the downs.

Overall another absolutely superb book from Crouch.  I can’t wait for the next one and honestly hope the series never ends (I’m in denial that it will have to end one day!).  If you haven’t read any of this series before then you need to check it out, especially if you’re a big fan of mysteries and amateur sleuthing.  You can read this as a standalone as Crouch provides enough information from previous stories where it’s needed, but I’d read the whole series if I was you – it’s BRILLIANT!!

Absolutely recommended by me – I just hope Crouch is writing book 7 now!!

about the author

Robert Crouch is the author of the Kent Fisher murder mystery series. Set in today’s world, the books pay homage to the traditional murder mystery and classic whodunit.

Based on his career as an environmental health officer, Kent Fisher is a different kind of detective, described as ‘unique in crime fiction’ by one reviewer.

Having left environmental health, Robert now writes full time from his home on the East Sussex coast. He loves walking on the South Downs with his wife, Carol, and their Westie, Harvey, reading crime fiction and photography.
