It was brilliant to be back with Becky. I loved the first book so was excited to meet her again later in life.
Becky has now left the police and is recovering from a traumatic experience. When an old friend shows up out of the blue, it unexpectadly signals the beginning of the White Knight Detective Agency – a private investigation company. Becky is nervous to start with but soon gets into the swing of things.
Excited about their first client, a young photographer with a stalker, they soon find themselves mixed up in a murder. And the more they investigate, the more people die, and the deeper in the investigation they get. Using Becky’s contacts, will they be able to solve it before the next victim is a child?
This had such a fantastic plot, and I literally had no clue who was responsible until all was revealed. I think I pretty much suspected everyone at some point! But it’s not only the main story that will have you hooked, there are plenty of things happening on the sidelines. We don’t know what happened to Becky to make her leave the police, there are mysterious men and her daughter is also mixed up in cyber bullying at school. There’s so much that had me turning the pages.
I still love Becky as much as I did in book 1. She’s struggling with anxieties because of what’s happened to her but battles through like a trooper. Joanna is a strong character who has been through a lot, but I feel like there’s something about her that we don’t know yet…..I felt suspicious so we’ll see if anything comes out in the second book. I also felt the same about her son, Will – maybe the book just made me suspicious of everyone expect Becky!
Jo’s writing is easy and enjoyable to read and follow and will allow you get lost in the storyline and mystery. I’ve loved all of Jo’s previous books and am excited that they’ll be more in the Becky White series. Be warned, this book leaves us on a cliffhanger and I NEED to know more so I hope it’s not too long until the next one!
So if you’re looking for a brilliant mystery that will keep you on your toes till the end, with lots of other things happening on the side too, and a host of brilliant characters, then this is for you!
