ABOUT SAVE HER
Bonded by their traumatic childhoods, Flora and Sophie are inseparable friends who married brothers.
What they could not have anticipated was their mother-in-law, Cecelia. Disappointed that her children have married beneath them, Cecelia takes every opportunity to belittle and taunt her daughter’s-in-law.
When Cecelia learns that Flora and her son are moving away, her wrath escalates, and Flora’s world begins to fall apart.
Meanwhile, Sophie’s life is also crumbling around her. Her marriage is not what it seems, and she is desperate to escape the clutches of the poisonous family she has married into.
Is Flora being tormented or is she losing her mind?
Will Sophie and Flora be forced to leave their husbands in order to survive?
With a mother-in-law like Cecelia, anything is possible…
Other than having Cecilia as a Mother-in-Law, Flora is happy. She’s loved up with her husband Sam, owns and runs a centre for autistic children which she adores, and lives next door to her best friend Sophie. But, things are about to get better – her and Sam are moving home….away from Cecilia. But when Cecilia finds out she is fuming….and then strange things start to happen to Flora and her world slowly begins to fall apart.
But the things that are happening are hard to believe, and even Sam isn’t sure if they’re really happening. But are they? Or is Flora losing her mind? Sophie also has stuff going on – her world isn’t all it seems and she’s determined to get away from the family she has married in to. But will she get away? Will she take Flora with her? Or is it too late for them both?
I was completely gripped by this and just wanted to keeping picking it up to read another chapter! The suspense is fantastic – I literally had no idea what was going to happen next. As always I started suspecting everyone as I had no clue who might be responsible for the things happening….it was a continuous guessing game! And I didn’t see the end coming either!
In terms of the characters, Flora is lovely but I feel like she’s a little naive. At times I wanted to give her a little shake and tell her to sort herself out – but then also had to remember that she’d been through a lot in the past. Sophie is completely the opposite – a strong woman who is determined to get what she wants, and take the best care of her friend that she can. Some of the characters surprised me – I’m not going to say who but some I detested but actually liked them by the end!
The author has a brilliant way of telling the story and really gets you with the creepiness and suspense. My only gripe was that, at times, I felt that the writing didn’t flow freely e.g. did not instead of didn’t. It might just be the way I like to read but it upset my flow occasionally. However, this is a tiny thing in contrast to how fantastic this book is!
So if you’re looking for your next psychological thriller that’s full of suspense and will keep you guessing, and then blow you away with the ending, then this is for you. Definitely recommended by me.
