my thoughts

Hannah is pretty settled in her life – she has a job and a family that she loves, but things in her past continue to haunt her.  Ten years ago her husband was murdered in their home, someone was convicted and the case was closed.  But now a well known crime podcast have decided to start looking into the case….and in their eyes the conviction was wrong, and Hannah isn’t as innocent as she makes out.  With each episode, Hannah’s life falls apart more and more – but there’s much more to it than first appears – and now Hannah is being judged by more people than she could ever have imagined.  But will the truth come out? And what is the truth……?

I was so engrossed in this.  I literally didn’t want to put it down – it really is one of those ‘one more chapter’ books! I genuinely felt like I was one of the podcast listeners – but with backstage info! I love a crime podcast in real life so this was completely up my street!

The characters will keep you guessing.  Even the one’s I thought I’d sussed out surprised me in some way, and there were some big twists in this – one’s I was not expected at all!  Despite everything, I really liked Hannah and felt terrible for her at times – she definitely hasn’t had it easy…..

The story was compelling, atmospheric and kept me on the edge of my seat.  I spent my whole time trying to figure it out, and out of all the amazing twists, I was partly right on one, but had no clue about any of the rest!  It really did keep me hanging on!

I really enjoyed the way it was laid out, split into sections for each podcast episode.  And as the story and episodes progress, more and more is revealed.  The writing style was clear, easy and enjoyable to read and the author did a fantastic job of sucking me in!

So, overall…..I loved it! If you’re looking for a gripping, atmospheric, creepy at times, fantastic crime/psychological thriller then I definitely think you should check this out.  100% recommended by me.  I can’t wait to read more from Katie!
