Today I’m on the blog tour for something a little different…..a compilation of short stories based on daily prompts by Morgen Bailey….

the blurb

This collection was written from a variety of prompts supplied by storyaday.org and originally published on Morgen’s blog (morgenbailey.wordpress.com– where you can still read the list of prompts), during May 2011, 2012, and 2013.

In this book there are stories of revenge, overcoming obstacles, newfound and lost love, shopping, chocolate, legends of history, and the occasional alien or two.

We have crimes afoot, writer’s block, characters with and without friends, homages, humans and non-humans, scratches, squeaks and barks.

From Chelsea buns to casseroles, we share the highs and lows, but the stories all go to show what can be done with a prompt, a few hours, and a colourful imagination.

my review

I’ve not read anything like this before so was intrigued to see what it would bring.  The book is a compilation of short stories written by Morgen from a variety of prompts over a number of years.  Each story tells a completely different story (although there are some Part 1 and Part 2’s) and some take a few seconds to read, whilst others might take 5 minutes.

If you’re a lover of short stories, this could be for you.  What I liked about it was that, if you love to read but are always short on time, you could read one or two stories a day – just to immerse yourself into someone else’s world.  Or, if you’re like me you could read lots of different stories in a day or two!

The stories included cover lots of different genres – there are a range of funny, romantic, spooky , heart-breaking and sad stories so there really is something for everyone.

Morgen’s writing style is clear and easy to follow and understand which is so important when the story is so short and needs to get the point across quickly.

Overall I enjoyed this, and would recommend if love a short and succinct story.  It also made me think about writing my own little stories…..they’d probably be rubbish but I might give this a go someday!
