Today, I’m very happy to be taking part in the blog tour for There’s Something About a Cowboy by Richard Amooi – a brilliant romantic comedy.
Rule #1: No Dating Cowboys.
A fake fiancé doesn’t count, right? Oh boy . . .
Amy Weaver is tired of her dad meddling in her love life. Fed up, she hires an actor to play the part of her fake cowboy fiancé when she goes home for her grandpa’s ninetieth birthday. Sure, Luke Jenkins has got looks, charm, and muscular legs, but this is business, pure and simple. Things are fine and dandy until she finds out he’s a real cowboy, not an actor. Now, she’s stuck between a rock and his chiseled jawline, falling faster than a sack of horseshoes. How the heck is Amy supposed to ignore the sparks between them and stick to her rule of not dating cowboys? All bets are off.
Before I started reading this I wasn’t entirely sure whether this would be for me or not, but I thought I’d give it a go and I’m really glad I did! The story begins with Amy going on a night out with her niece – which I really loved as I’m close to my older niece too and it sounds exactly like the kind of night we’d have (without the kissing – I’m married!). She meets Luke and there is a spark there from the very beginning, but she’s off cowboys and he doesn’t want a relationship…..
But her Grandpa now thinks she’s engaged so she has to play along and pays Luke to pretend to be her fiancé for the week……cue lots of awkward moments, laughs and competitions!
I enjoyed the storyline and getting to know the characters. Amooi has a gift for helping us to really get to know the characters so you can clearly make your own decision on them. Some are there to love….and some not so much! Luke is fighting a losing battle when he arrives to meet Amy’s family, and I was rooting for him all the way to prove certain people wrong! This story is fun and light-hearted and had me laughing out loud throughout. A great contemporary romance with lots of laughs!
