Afternoon my lovelies and welcome to a new week. Today I’m super excited to bring you a review of the new book by local author, Trevor Twohig. I absolutely loved the last two, but Two Wolves is definitely my favourite. And it’s being published TOMORROW – wahoo!
about two wolves
Two Wolves sees Charlie Stone in his most fierce confrontation yet.
Separated from his pregnant fiancee, Tara, and grieving for his dead friend and mentor, Dave Woodward, Charlie is lost.
Add into the mix that his ex-wife, Jo, is preventing any contact with his daughter, and the outlook is bleak for Charlie.
When he returns to his police job to find that the case he has been working on is pulled for mysterious reasons, Charlie is forced to take matters into his own hands and ‘go rogue.’
This is Charlie Stone at his roughest, toughest and most desperate.
With the aid of his new found friend Robbie, he embarks on a blistering journey of redemption and justice, where there are no holds barred.
Can Charlie catch the criminals, before his world falls apart?
Formats available: Paperback and eBook. Available on Kindle Unlimited.
Charlie is struggling to deal with the loss of his friend and is in a dark place. Not only that, his ex-wife Jo is stopping him from seeing the most precious thing to him, his daughter Maddie, and things with his girlfriend aren’t good. But his enemy is still out there and he’s got to pull himself together to hunt him down. After a rough start, he sorts himself out and heads back to work. But is hit again with a disappoint that finds him jacking in the job that has taken so much from him. But that’s not going to stop him hunting own his nemesis……
With the help of new character Tony, Charlie finds himself getting mixed up in all sorts of messy and dangerous situations; getting deeper into thins he doesn’t understand. But will he and the people he love survive? And will he get a showdown with the person he is hunting?
I read this in less than 24 hours – I couldn’t put it down. If it wasn’t for the fact that I didn’t start this until the evening I would have ended up reading it in one go! This is fast paced, exciting, dark and raw, and yet again, full of some fantastic twists!
If you’ve read my previous reviews, you’ll know that I adore Charlie, so it was heartbreaking to see him in such a dark place. He’s a good guy but is struggling with everything that’s happened to him the past few years. I was so worried about him at times…..his emotions are so raw and you can really feel it. We get to pick up with some of the other loved characters (although my opinion of one of them changed drastically in this!), and get some new fantastic characters too. I absolutely love Tony! He is a proper ‘geezer’ and I could genuinely imagine him in some of my old haunts – which leads me on to the next thing.
This is set across Folkestone and Ashford, and I loved it. Reading a book where I can follow exactly where they are, what pubs they’re in and where they are heading is amazing and really bought this to life for me. But don’t fear, if you don’t know the area it doesn’t matter – you will enjoy this just as much as me.
The plot is fantastic. Tony brings a whole new layer of crazy to the story and I loved it. He also brings a bit of violence and gore, so be prepared! The story is full of action and I didn’t want it to end. I questioned myself throughout this about certain things (and I’m not giving anything away!) and it will do the same to you. The ending was mind-blowing – I was absolutely gobsmacked with what transpired towards the end…..
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – this is a must read series. You don’t have to read the first books, you could read this as a standalone but get them all if I were you – it really helps to get to know and fall in love with our fantastic protagonist. If you live in Folkestone, Ashford or Kent then you have to read these – you will love the settings so much. And if you’re a crime/thriller fan and love a good twist and fantastic characters, then you should check this out. Highly recommended by me.
about the author
Hi, I’m Trevor Twohig and I was born in South East London. I was never great at school, except English. I would go so far as to say that writing is my passion.
For a large part of my professional life I have been a teacher and Head of English as creating a desire to write, in the next generation, is something I passionately believe in.
I appeared at the Folkestone Book Festival in 2016 where I discussed my journey and discuss my novel ‘Sunny Sands’, which was published in 2018.
My experience in education and journalism has allowed me to develop my editing skills also, so please don’t hesitate to contact me for any of your writing needs. I am available to work on a freelance basis.
Sunny Sands was released in 2018 and was the top Fiction seller at The Conrad Press when I made the decision to become an indie writer. The second novel in the series, Crimson Cross, was released in 2020 and has a Five Star Global Rating on Amazon.
The third novel in the collection will be released in February 2021 and I also have a Children’s book out called, Pansy Pete.
Huge thanks to Trevor for gifting me with a copy of the book. All views and opinions are my own.
Give me a shout if you’ve read any of these, and especially if you read Two Wolves! I would absolutely love to chat about them!
Have a wonderful day my lovelies and I’ll be back soon.
