Today I’m bringing you two review….the first is for We Never Said Goodbye by Helene Fermont….a dramatic tale of love, loss and second chances…..

the blurb

Is it ever too late for love?

When Mike dumps Louise on their 20th Wedding Anniversary, her entire world comes to an end.

Devastated and confused, she attempts to make sense of what happened and returns to a city she’s avoided for two decades.

Will she be able to move on with the man she left behind or will Mike’s increasingly violent and unhinged behaviour continue to haunt and ruin her life? When the reason Mike left her at long last is revealed Louise’s life is in serious danger.

my review

We meet Louise at the beginning of the book as she’s waiting for her Husband to come home to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary….however he doesn’t come back and he calls to dump her over the phone!!

What follows is her trying to pick her life back up again and learn how to be happy (with a cute dog called Rufus!).  She ends up returning to her home town but will she stay there or will she feel the need to return to London?

As well as Louise’s story, there are the stories of the supporting characters…..Steve has his own problems with his marriage – having affairs but still thinking he’s in love with his wife (who is seeing someone else!).  And Mike – Louise’s Husband who is an absolute arsehole and just out for what he can get…..

The storyline was really dramatic and full of action.  We come across love, loss, heartbreak, betrayal, abuse, violence and characters trying to bounce back.  One of the strong themes is friendship – with Louise’s friends really rallying round to help her through her tough times.

I did find it quite tough at times to keep up as the story would flit from one character, or couple to another without there being any obvious break….so one minute you’d be reading about Louise and Mike, and then in the next line you’d be reading about Steve.  I did find it quite confusing at times, and I found I had to concentrate more than I usually do.  But overall the story was good, and I was happy to see how things turned out for everyone.
